I genuinely think the Lance Armstrong doping is the biggest doping story. Cycling is a niche sport and Lance had made himself an American household name before the accusations hit. Sports Dr's and other cyclists were aware that what he was achieving was impossible without drugs but he sold it to the public as a cancer miracle story and so many people needed to believe that it was possible. That is why many US folks still dont believe the doping stories- even though he kind of admitted to it. His Livestrong trust should have been shut down when he was found guilty as it was part of how he duped the public.
