Southampton beat Leeds 1-0 on Sunday to win the Championship play-off and return to the Premier League at the first time of asking. A 1,000-mile round trip drive was worth it
Great read, Nick. I'm so glad you decided to make the trip down and enjoy an incredible experience....even if my spare wasn't quite as glamourous! ;) Up The Saints, Ben
I am pleased for you Nick, it's good to see the Saints back in the top league. I enjoyed the piece. My brother is a Southampton fan, his review on the game when I texted him was "tense."
What a wonderful piece. Football (especially as a Saints fan) can be uplifting, frustrating, boring, exciting, terrible, wonderful. But once you are a fan there is no going back. The low’s are difficult to take but a day like you had (and unfortunately I could not make it on Sunday) gives you such highs and wonderful memories for your lifetime.
Congrats on the win! Someone in The Food Club kitchen was rooting for the Saints, but we won't name him!

Haha Ben. It wasn't a decision based on glamour, I promise.

A fantastic piece, thank you for sharing.
Futbol* pleeeeze?
“football” to the former colonies of the Crown, means something else entirely.
Thankfully, you understand it most assuredly isn’t “soccer.”
Always the ugly Americans……
