Sporting intelligence readers know their stuff. Ahead of a special series about Wimbledon next week, I'd like you to share your views on the best matches ever played in SW19
2008 Men's Wimbledon final. Federer Nadal was SO epic - don't forget it wasn't just the match, but the whole "can Nadal win off clay" question; Federer going for his 6th title in a row just like Borg was in 1981; the darkness; a tie break which had back to back lights-out shots; a 5th set that was long (but not TOO long); and throughout just supreme rallies. I was actually there, so I'm biased, but I promise you, it can't be beaten.
Mahut vs Isner because it went on for such a long time. Amazing amount of endurance showed by both players and a record that will probably never be broken. The fact that the final set itself was longer than the previous longest match shows how mad it was. As someone who isn't a big tennis fan it still lives long in the memory.
rafa vs roger 2008 wimbledon final
1980 final. Borg v McEnroe. Epic!
2008 Men's Final. 2019 Men's Final. 2001 Men's Final.
The 1980 Men’s Final. For me, the greatest game of sport ever. Not just tennis, any sport…
