There is so much wrong with modern sport, it's easy to forget that it can touch so many lives, so profoundly. I've been reminded of that this past week
Very moving! Both Lewis and Toto do seem to be genuinely decent people. So happy for you Mum. And of course the win was due to her presence at the lunch, how could it possibly be otherwise!
Hej Nick. Spot on about how sports can be touching - and, not to forget, connect people :-) You state you are in Copenhagen. If you have time and would like to meet a local football nerd (more the economy/management part, than analysis of on-pitch performances) I am free for coffee, lunch, dinner, anything actually, today (Tuesday) and Wednesday as well. Further info: I am a team manager at Copenhagen Celtic, probably, the best football club in Copenhagen :-) Dominated by Brits, but welcoming all nationalities :-) Since the only contact details I can find on you is here I give you my phone number +45 2460 9424 - feel free to call me. I would love to meet up with you :-)
Hey, Kenneth, thanks for the message and the invitation. I was only in Copenhagen for one day and one night and I'm already on my way to Stockholm. But thanks for your number and I'll get in touch next time i'm passing!
This is such a beautiful piece Nick. Your mum's photo of the Pope (the *only* Pope as far as my Polish mother is concerned) is fantastic. The Mercedes story was just wonderful. At a time when so much is cynical and wrong about sport, it is lovely to read this. Sending best wishes to you and your family.
So enjoyed reading this article Nick on many levels. How wonderful for your mum to experience a life- long cherished ambition ( although under sad circumstances). And yes the unbounded joys of sport - Cav’s 35th win. England pens (!!) and Lewis on Sunday- what a whirlwind of great sporting successes- cheers and tears
Beautiful piece, Nick
Nick, I just sobbed my way through this. The photo of your Mum with Lewis is beyond wonderful.x
Hey Janey! Hope all good. xx
Superb article Nick, it’s very dusty here but I got through it anyway 👏👏👏

That was a beautiful article Nick. So glad your Mum got to meet Lewis - plus your videos were great too!

Yes, please, keep my number and feel free to get in touch next time you are in the Copenhagen area.
This should come with a trigger warning.
The best of sports & such a reminder of the importance of family and living life to the fullest extent.
Made me think of my dad, my brothers, and my grandfathers (now departed). Very special.
All the best to you, your family and your mother.
