Wolves at the Cottage door: why McCarthy’s men scent points at Fulham this weekend
By Brian Sears 10 September 2010 The Wolves will be on prowl in London this weekend, hunting by the river. They're playing Fulham. And Wolves have won more Premier League points against Fulham than against any other Premier League side. Yes, yes. I know Wolves are only experiencing their third Premier League season; one season in the early Noughties, last season and now. But there are statistical reasons for Wolves heading to Craven Cottage with a spring in their step. First: they're unbeaten after their first three Premier League games this season. Seven years ago, when first present in the revamped top flight, they lost all their first three matches, and last season, two of the first three. This time: no defeats in three. Woof! Second: Wolves have already harvested eight Premier League points from their four games with Fulham. Eight! From four! I said eight! From four! That’s two points per game on average. That’s title-winning stuff. Third: Wolves have yet to lose to the Cottagers, having won won both their home games with Fulham 2-1 while both away games have been goalless. It's not like that with most of Wolves' London encounters. They have yet to gain a single point from Arsenal and Chelsea, and seven seasons ago Wolves lost both games with Charlton. Wolves’ full record - each and every point of the 76 gained from 79 games so far - is detailed in our table below. . More Brian Sears Sportingintelligence home page .
