Manchester United aim to rock Blackpool with sixth burst of seven

Manchester United’s seven-goal haul against Blackburn last weekend was the fifth occasion that they have scored seven or more goals in a single Premier League game, so they travel to Blackpool this weekend looking for a sixth burst of seven.
The odds are against it statistically. Only on 27 occasions in 7,236 Premier League matches to date have teams scored seven or more goals in one game, at a average rate of once every 268 games. The full list is below.
United's five “seven-pluses” is a greater number than achieved by anyone else. Chelsea and Blackburn have four each, and all of Chelsea’s happened between January and May this year. Newcastle have achieved the feat three times, most recently in 1999, beating Sheffield Wednesday 8-0.
Arsenal, Everton and Tottenham have done it twice each, while Aston Villa, Liverpool, Middlesbrough, Nottingham Forest and Portsmouth have done it once each.
No team has ever scored 10 in a single Premier League game but on two occasions teams have scored nine: Spurs last season against Wigan, and United in 1995 against Ipswich.
Eight goals have been scored by one team four times: Chelsea against Wigan last season, Middlesbrough against Manchester City in May 2008, Newcastle against Sheffield Wednesday in 1999 and United at Nottingham Forest in February 1999.
