Manchester City's two favourite opponents in their 13 and a half seasons in the Premier League are Aston Villa and Newcastle, according to sportingintelligence's exclusive analysis of where they've gained their points down the years. And who are City's two Yuletide opponents? Ding dong merrily on high - it's Newcastle and Aston Villa.
City have won 656 points from 524 Premier League games to date, a tally beaten only by, errm, 11 other clubs: Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Villa, Tottenham, Everton, Newcastle, Blackburn, West Ham and Leeds.
And a whacking 47 of those points have come against Villa alone, from 13 wins and eight draws in 26 games (five defeats). That means that Villa are City's most generous opponents by far in the Premier League. In second place are Newcastle, against whom City have won 36 Premier League points in 23 games, from 10 wins, six draws and seven defeats.
What on earth can go wrong?
