Blackburn eye first Premier League half-century at Newcastle

This is Blackburn Rovers' 17th season in the Premier League, which means they have already played some sides as many as 32 times each, and yet they have yet to reach a cumulative total of 50 points against any of them. That could be about to change.
The lack of any 'half-century' could be interpreted as a poor show, given that Blackburn were regarded as giants of sorts in the Jack Walker heyday, and are one of only four clubs to have won the Premier League title. Every other club that has been in the Premier League as long or longer than Blackburn has already notched at least one 50. Newcastle, for example, also in their 17th season, have managed it against three opponents: Aston Villa, Tottenham and Everton.
Rovers visit Newcastle tomorrow with a 50 within reach against the team from the Toon. Blackburn have 47 Premier League points to date from 28 meetings with Newcastle (see table below), and if they fail to hit the 50 against Newcastle, they are at home to Villa a week on Saturday, when a win would see them reach 50 over the Midlands club.
