14 September 2010 Blimey: it's now a full 10 years since the Sydney Olympics, which opened on 15 September 2000 with a ceremony where Cathy Freeman lit the flame. In an interview in The Australian (edition 15 Sep, online now) to mark that anniversary, the athlete who became an icon for a Games memorable for so many good reasons, says: "From the moment Sydney was announced as the 2000 host to the moment I cross the line (in the 400m final), the whole experience was sensory overload, but it's good to have that chapter in my life. It enriches my life in so many ways." . Sportingintelligence home page .
